In domestic violence cases, she has achieved permanent domestic violence restraining orders and has protected clients from false allegations of domestic violence. She also volunteers regularly for Los Angeles County Bar Association's Domestic Violence Services Project.
Many domestic violence cases involve divorce, child custody, child support, and spousal support. Ms. Rubenstein appears regularly before the Los Angeles Superior Court and has successfully argued before the California Court of Appeal.
Ms. Rubenstein proudly serves on the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Judicial Appointments Committee. This committee responds to the governor's requests to evaluate individuals under consideration for appointment to the Superior Court bench.
She also serves on the Access to Justice Committee, which works to maximize the delivery of legal services to persons of limited means, including through Domestic Violence Legal Services.
Further, she volunteers monthly at the Domestic Violence Legal Services Project located at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
In 2016, Ms. Rubenstein served as the co-president of the LGBTQ Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.

Q&A with Emily Rubenstein
How do you help clients through such a difficult time?
It takes a very specific balance of empathy, sensitivity, and at times, tough love. Divorce can feel overwhelming. Clients need personal attention and a non-judgmental ear. They also need plain answers to complex family law and divorce questions.
Because divorce is emotional, part of my job is to help clients make smart decisions through the cloud of emotional discomfort. My job is to protect my clients and guide them to best possible result.
